The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has stated that it is preparing to bring a provision to get permission and pay tax for raising cookers in Kathmandu. The metropolis argues that the new rules are being prepared due to the increase in the number of people who keep dogs for livelihood but leave the animals unattended. Officials say that the practice of defecating in public places, including roads, and dumping garbage is becoming a major problem.
The corporation has proposed the plan in the budget of the coming fiscal year and is preparing to implement it from July, officials said.
According to Ishwar Man Dangol, spokesperson of the metropolis, the metropolis will also provide services after collecting taxes. He said, "The issue of how much tax to charge will come up in the budget. But we have planned to provide not only tax but also service." "We also plan to go home and get vaccinated and sterilized." He claimed that the metropolis is currently taking care of the dogs in the community.
Also GPS tracker
The corporation has also said that a GPS tracker will be provided around the neck to end the situation of leaving stray dogs unattended. The metropolis expects that the situation of stray people will improve as the details including the person who raised the dog will be available on the basis of GPS tray.
According to Dangol, there are about 24,000 dogs in the community in Kathmandu Metropolitan City. The number of domestic dogs is estimated to be around 10,000. According to the metropolis, there are seven to eight lakh permanent residents in 32 wards of Kathmandu. According to Dangol, the issue of giving permission to keep dogs has not been resolved by the ward or the metropolis.
